Momoko Burbine, Principal Dancer of the Ajkun Ballet Company, best known for her brilliant allegro and delicate stage presence.
Repertory
Momoko originated featured roles in Chiara Ajkun's A Midsummer Night's Dream (Puck, The Egg PAC premiere 2014) and Anna Karenina (Kitty, City Center premiere 2017) and the lead roles of Mina in Dracula (Lincoln Center premiere 2016) and Tango Nights. Her repertory includes principal dancer roles in the ballets The Nutcracker, Don Quixote, La Sylphide, Swan Lake, The Sleeping Beauty, Paquita, La Bayadère, and Le Corsaire.
Touring
Momoko has toured with Ajkun Ballet Theatre to Brazil, Bolivia and Kosovo. Guest appearances also include Ballet Galas UNICEF’s Danzar Por La Paz directed by Leonardo Reale (Teatro Colon, Argentina), Maximilano Guerra and Friends
Early Life
Ms. Burbine began training in her native Japan at Suzuki Ballet Art Studio and completed her dance education at The Joffrey Ballet School under full scholarship. Momoko performed with the NBA Ballet Company and is the recipient of the first prize at Ballet Competition 21. Momoko's dream to join Ajkun Ballet Theatre became reality in 2012, where Artistic director and choreographer Chiara Ajkun promoted Momoko First Soloist in 2016 and Principal Dancer in 2019.
