Klevis Tafaj, Principal Dancer of the Ajkun Ballet Company, best known for his skills and charismatic stage presence.
Repertory
Klevis originated lead roles in Chiara Ajkun's Dracula, Anna Karenina, and Tango Nights. His repertory encompasses principal dancer roles in the ballets Carmen, Chopiniana, Cinderella, Coppelia, The Nutcracker, Don Quixote, La Bayadère, La Fille Mal Gardée, La Sylphide, Notre Dame, Othello, The Sleeping Beauty, Giselle, Swan Lake, and original creations by world-renowned choreographers Angelin Preljocaj, Pëllumb Agalliu and Chiara Ajkun.
Touring
Klevis has toured with Ajkun Ballet Theatre to Argentina, Brazil, Bolivia, Italy, Kosovo, and the United Kingdom.
Guest appearances also include engagements for Compagnia Nazionale di Raffaele Paganini, Ballet del Parque de Conocimiento, the Broadway Show ALBTVUSA, and Ballet Galas UNICEF’s Danzar Por La Paz, Maximilano Guerra, Opera Theater in Turkey, Opera Theater in Greece, Praha International Festival, and Balkans Festival of Warsaw.
Projects
Klevis is the Artistic Coordinator for the New York Winter Festival and the show A Night of Dance, sponsored by Ramona Vicenty of the Corcoran Group and the Artistic Advisor of the Association Skanderbeg, promoting Albanian Culture in the United States.
Early Life
Born in Albania, Klevis graduated from the National Ballet School of Tirana and joined the National Ballet Company of the Opera House where he was promoted to Soloist in 2013. Gold Medallist 2014 of the prestigious Premio Danza Europa, Klevis was awarded the same year the European Critic’s Award for “Outstanding Classical Ballet Dancer” presented by the University of Dance, Theater & Liberal Arts of Italy funding his first trip to the United States to partake in the Ajkun Ballet Theatre’s intensive Performing in New York. Upon his return, Klevis joined the National Ballet of Kosovo as Principal Dancer. The United States’ American Guild of Musical Artists granted Klevis the status of Artist of Extraordinary Ability, and Klevis joined the Ajkun Ballet Company in 2016.
