New York City Summer Intensive of the Ajkun Ballet Theatre
Our ballet program for Dance Students, Professional Dancers and Dance Teachers pursuing a professional career and
interested in enhancing their preparation to further their careers in the industry.
WE WELCOME ALL INQUIRIES:
Our fully monitored living facilities provide accommodation from two days before the commencement of classes through the night following the last event. Friendly property and company staff is on premises at all times and available 24/7 to address your concerns. Supervision and Live-In Chaperone for minors is provided. Included in Housing: air-conditioning, wireless internet, laundry facility, gym.
Company Tour Travel
Travel is provided by Charter Bus, when requested by our performance tour.
In the rare event of a medical emergency, our Staff will refer participant to a certified nurse, licensed physical therapist, or a nearby emergency medical unit as needed.
To make your stay more enjoyable, a list of Optional Services, including event tickets, individual Pilates sessions and Company dancewear, is available to enrolled participants.
The repertory performed for the season dictates the number of positions available, typically 20 Dancers and 2 Dance Teachers.
Minimum age for Dancers is 14 years old and for Dance Teachers is 18 years old.
Participation is granted on a first-come, first-serve basis to the exhaustion of places available to candidates of any citizenship who can demonstrate having mastered a strong ballet technique and have the physical prerequisite to sustain an intense daily training and rehearsals.
To maintain the remarkable artistic standard required by our Company, positions may be divided for countries. Official application deadline is April 30th. Past experience indicates that all positions are filled prior to the deadline. Applications are accepted as early as THREE YEARS in advance of the intended year of participation. Early Registration is strongly recommended.
Candidates are admitted through an Auditionin person or by video. Auditionees for the program are required to send in the registration fee along with the Audition Form and fee to preserve the availability of their spot. The registration fee is reimbursed only in the case acceptance is denied.

Registration fee is US$90.
Funding by federal, state and local government and public contributions cover a portion of the cost, and individual merit and need based scholarships, grants and outside awards (AKA extramural contributions) may make up for the difference.
When you qualify for the program, we use a combination of resources to determine your contribution and communicate it to you with the audition outcome. Your contribution may be referred to as “tuition”. The tuition is payable in full at registration or in four installments.
Housing is guaranteed if the deposit is paid at registration.
Housing may be purchased at anytime before June 30th, subject to availability and rate increase.
Scholarships and Financial Aid for Training, Housing and Airfare Costs:
Participants are selected for the summer program without regard to their finances.
Public and private contributions keep the program tuition considerably lower than the program's actual cost.
Merit and Need-Based Financial Aid may be awarded for the Training Program, Housing Cost and Airfare Travel.
The AjkunBT Fund may award additional financial assistance based upon individual qualification, up to the annual budget for dancers, to cover additional costs. Read more on AjkunBT Fund
The Ajkun Ballet Theatre offers a variety of programs in New York City and abroad and opportunities to earn a New York State Certificate in the Ajkun (C) Methodology. Our Trainee Program meets the standards of The United States Immigration and Citizenship Services for the H-3 visa (Trainee Visa). Generous donors contribute to ensure that gifted dancers can afford to attend, regardless of financial status.

Participants may elect to commute into our program or reside in our accommodation.
Dancers joining our program are challenged and inspired to achieve the very best
through four high-level daily classes, in a nurturing environment considerate of age and dance level,
and then to convey their skills during performances.
We believe in the importance of providing strong ballet, pointe and repertory training that broaden in modern dance techniques and an
injury prevention-physical strengthening plan (IPPSP) in support of a healthful and long career in the field.

Determinant to the success of emerging Artists is the inspirational relationship with the Company's Artistic Director, Dr. Chiara Ajkun, and our Company Dancers who mentor and perform alongside Participants daily, and the opportunity to be part of the creative process of our Resident Choreographers. Specialty classes expose participants to subjects critical and instrumental to the success of a professional dancer.

Our performance schedule allows participants to learn many aspects of Company life, from touring to public speaking. Lectures and active cooperation with our production staff guide and thoroughly expose dancers to the specific requirements of a professional career. Our Wardrobe provides performance costumes. Public Performances may be sided by: Arts in Education Events, followed by a question/answer period with the audience, Press Presentations, discovering promotional topics, Showcases for potential donors to a participant’s career, Open Rehearsals for a targeted audience leading to potential contract opportunities. Employment Opportunities: Dancers seeking for employment typically embark in an expensive audition tour that often overlooks organizations not internationally renowned. Equally, Dance Companies may overlook some dancers in the short time of an audition. The Ajkun Ballet Theatre created a network to serve as a platform for dancers to broaden their exposure across the globe. Our organization is regarded by Dance Companies worldwide as a primary source to explore some the world's finest artists for employment openings. Worldwide Promotion: Our Press & Communication Division promotes all Company Artists & Participants in our programs on a global scale. Dancers are referred by our Artistic Staff, based on several weeks of training and performance, and supported by the international reputation of our Artistic Director. The network created by AjkunBT Arts Administrators, Artists, Alumni, Patrons and Partners along with our partnerships with many Dance Companies helps dancers to move effortlessly toward a professional career.
The program comprises of advanced training and hands-on understanding of the Company's Production and Performance time, fully allowing participants to experience subjects not conventionally accessible in a study setting.
Participants can reside in our supervised living accommodation and are fully assisted by our Staff during their stay.
