We offer many different performance programs for a range of grade levels that can take place at your school and/or at our venues in Manhattan. Most selections may be performed in their full-length version, school version or as part of a mixed program playbill (performances of excerpts from two or more titles) for the desired running time. Schools may elect to maximize funding by planning mixed program playbill matinee/s and consider adding a full evening performance open to the general public. All performing engagements offer the option to add a participatory program or residency conducted during the same period of time. Each performance may be introduced by a lecture and followed by a Q/A period with the artists. Study guides available upon request.

A variety of workshop options that can be conducted on their own or in conjunction with
a performance. Multiple workshops can be offered to create a residency program
specifically suited for your school, budget and student population. We can come to your
school or you can bring your students at our Manhattan venue.
Some Workshop Options:
Technique Class: choice of: ballet, modern dance, choreographic movements;
Repertory Workshop: rehearsal from AjkunBT’s repertory alongside our dancers;
Student/Parent/Teacher Workshop: observation of AjkunBT’s training and discussion on the hows and whys of dance training;
Lectures: your choice of dance history, introduction to dance, dance and social theme topics sided by demonstrations performed by company artists and audience participation.
AjkunBT can develop a residency that suits your schedule, budget and needs. It can focus on a single grade level or encompass many classes within your school. It can be a combination of performance and participatory activities or simply a sequence of movement workshops that culminates in a performance shared by the students.
Some Past and Ongoing Residencies Include:
PS 175 Elementary & Middle School in Bronx (NYC): AjkunBT performed in the school for the entire student body,
followed by two years of instruction in dance technique sponsored by Sports & Arts Foundation.
PS 127 Middle School in Bronx (NYC): AjkunBT held a series of choreographic workshops to help students create
their own performances.
Harlem School of The Arts in Manhattan (NYC): AjkunBT performed for schools in the district and for the general
public, while HSA students attended monthly rehearsals to be inspired by the company’s standard.
New Rochelle High School in Westchester (NY) presents AjkunBT’s annual Nutcracker and has held “Creativity
Matters!” performances created during the Company’s workshops at the PAVE program and sponsored by the
Putnam/Northern Westchester BOCES.
AjkunBT works with teachers and/or administrators in planning tailor-made programs that accomplish the objectives of the school. Sometimes AjkunBT is the sole artist involved in a project and other times multiple artists of varying disciplines are involved. These projects can be short or long-term. AjkunBT is sometimes involved in the full expanse of a school’s project or is just one component of it. ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE!
Arts in Education
Performances, Participatory Programs, Unique Projects
Our goal is to enable students to appreciate and understand many different forms of dance, their interaction with music, drama
and opera, and to promote unique cultural expressions conveyed by our multilingual Artists representing 5 different continents.
Far more than simple arts appreciation, AjkunBT's practice is rooted in collaboration between artists and communities
that provide students with hands-on opportunities to explore and understand the arts.
Teachers and school administrators are welcome to contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org to discuss specific projects.
