AjkunBT’s Junior Artists represent a distillation of the hopes and aspirations of a substantial number of Dancers
coming from a variety of institutions throughout the United States and from many foreign countries.
Over 2,000 candidates audition every year, resulting in about 10 being accepted as Trainees to the Company.
Each of them predicted, if the past foretells the future,
their special spark will make them become one of the best world-class dancers of tomorrow.
Our Alumni went on to take prominent positions in the professional world and are currently employed
in Asia, Australia, Europe, North and South Americas,
whether by Ajkun Ballet Theatre or AjkunBT's Partners in Dance, a network of over 150 different companies
sharing with us the vision to open the avenues of opportunities for a young generation of dancers.

SU HYEON AHN
SOUTH KOREA
Ms. Ahn began her training at the Korea National Ballet Academy, and further her studies at the Vaganova Ballet Academy of Korea and Seoul Arts High School.
Su Hyeon earned a Bachelor of Dance at Ewha Women University in Korea before joining Ajkun Ballet Theatre as a Trainee in 2012. |

NATALIE ROSE ALVAREZ
USA - FL
Ms. Alvarez began her ballet training at the Miami City Ballet, Cuban Classical Ballet of Miami and The Art of Classical Ballet. Mrs. Lourdes Albarellos has privately coached Ms. Alvarez since the age of fourteen. Natalie is the recipient of the American Dance Competition 2011, and has received scholarships in major dance instituitions to include Joffrey Ballet and Orlando Ballet Schools. Natalie has performed with the Cuban Classical Ballet of Miami at the Madrid Summer Festival 2011. Natalie joined AjkunBT as a Trainee in 2012. |

ELLA BETTS
AUSTRALIA - NSW
Ms. Betts began her ballet training in New Castle, Australia, before being awarded a scholarship that allowed her to complete her dance training at the McDonald College in Sydney. Ella graduated with Distinction from the Australian International Ballet Academy under the direction of Jacqui Dumont and the teaching of Josephine Jason and Allan Cross. Ella was employed by the NSW State Dance Company and, more recently, from the Australian Ballet Company for their production of Manon. Her performing experiences include the Premier State Ballet Company and several repertory ballets. Ella joined AjkunBT in 2011. |

KANAE KUSU
JAPAN
Ms. Kusu began her dance training at Iwabuchi Ballet and Okumura Ballet Academy in her native Japan and completed her dance study at the Northern Ballet School in the United Kingdom. As a professional dancer, Kanae performed with the Manchester City Ballet and has been featured in Coppelia and The Nutcracker.
Kanae joined AjkunBT in 2011 and performed with the Company in Italy in 2012. |

ADELA LAMI
ALBANIA
Ms. Lami began her dance training at The National Ballet School of Tirana in her native Albania, and further her studies with Evgeni Petrovic Vallukin and Raffaele Paganini. Adela is the winner of the First Prize of the National Albanian competition "Star Academy" and of the Grand Prix of the Premio DanzaEuropa 2012. Adela participated to Performing in New York 2012 and joined the Company in 2012. Adela annually performs with the National Ballet of Albania as a guest artist, courtesy of the Ajkun Ballet Theatre.
Congratulations to Adela, that has been cast as Cosette in Leonard Ajkun's World Premiere of Les Misérables.

ELIZABETH LEAVEY
USA - NY
Ms. Leavey began her ballet training at The Dance Project under the guidance of Dr. Carolyn Lanfredi, PhD. There, she performed in excerpts of Le Corsaire, Sleeping Beauty, Cinderella, Swan Lake, La Bayadere and Carmen. Elizabeth furthered her training at the French Academie of Ballet’s Summer Intensive in 2012, and at The Joffrey Ballet School, where she gained performance experience in original pieces choreographed by Ronald Tice and Africa Guzman. Elizabeth is ecstatic to be joining Ajkun Ballet Theatre as a Trainee in 2013. |

KRISTIE LETTERA
USA - CT
Ms. Lettera began her ballet training at The Nutmeg Conservatory for the Arts under the tutelage of Sharon Dante, Eleanor D' Antuono, Kirk Peterson, Alexei Tchernichov, and Victoria Mazzerelli, before attending Valentina Kozlova's Dance Conservatoire in New York. Since 2010, Kristie gained performing experience with The Joffrey Ballet of Chicago.
Kristie's repertory includes traditional and contemporary ballets, as well as new creations by Francisco Avina and Wayne McGregor. Kristie joined as a Trainee AjkunBT in 2012.

ISADORA LIMA
BRAZIL
Ms. Lima began her ballet training at the Slava Goulenko Ballet School, and further her dance education in Rio de Janeiro, at the Grupo Cultural Dance School under the tutelage of Patricia Marques. In 2012 Isadora attended the Miami City Ballet School receiving scholarships to attend the Chicago Ballet School and the School of American Ballet. Her repertory includes Satanella, Giselle, The Sleeping Beauty, Le Corsaire, among others. Isadora is excited to join Ajkun Ballet Theatre as a Junior Artist, in 2013. |

JUDIT MATEU GARCIA
SPAIN
Ms. Mateu Garcia began her dance training at the Conservatory of Dance "Institut del Teatre" in her native Barcelona, Spain. In 2009, Judit received from Victor Ullate an invitation along with a grant to join the Royal Conservatory of Dance in Madrid, where she graduated in 2012. Her repertory includes Le Syphides, Raymonda, Le Corsaire, and Paquita. Judit is excited to join the Ajkun Ballet Theatre and credits her teachers, Mr. Ramon Oller, Ms. Tatiana Yerakhavets, and Ms. Marisa Martinez for her success.

CAROLINE REZNIK
AUSTRALIA - NSW
Ms. Reznik began her dance training at the Carlton School of the Arts and further her dance education at the Ecole Ballet Studio in Sydney, Australia. In 2012, Caroline attended the School of The National Ballet of Cuba and the summer intensive of the School of American Ballet in New York. Caroline is versed in traditional ballet and contemporary dance and she performed lead roles in Don Quixote, Coppelia, Paquita, and Giselle. Caroline joins AjkunBT as a Trainee in 2013.

DOMINIQUE RIGILLO
ITALY
Ms. Rigillo began her dance training in her native Naples with Rosella Rossi at the Ballettoteatroscuola, before graduating from the Académie de Danse Princess Grace in Montecarlo. Dominique moved to Russia, Saint Petersburg, in 2011 to attend the professional year at the Vaganova Academy directed by Altynai Abdyahimovna Asylmuratova and contestually completed her bachelor in dance at LUDT and received additional training at the Ballettoteatroscuola by Annamaria Prina. Dominique's dream to join the Ajkun Ballet Theatre became reality in 2012. |

MARCO ILARIO RUSSO
ITALY
Mr. Russo began his dance training in her native Reggio Calabria, before graduating from Teatro dell'Opera di Roma's National Ballet School. In 2012 Marco Ilario participated to AjkunBT's intensive Performing in New York, thanks to a grant made available by Chicago based Patron Mr. Roberto Miotto. Marco Ilario was invited to join the Company at the end of the program. |

HISAYO SHIMADA
JAPAN
Ms. Shimada began her dance training at the Yoshiko Tokomura Ballet School, then further her study at the Masami Funou Ballet Studio and completed her dance education at the Showa College of Music. By the time she was a sophomore, Hisayo was cast as a leading dancer in the school's performances. Hisayo graduated by performing the overall lead dancer at her graduation performance and is excited to join Ajkun Ballet Theatre as a Junior Artist in 2013. |
