PROGRAM OVERVIEW:
The program comprises of advanced Training and hands-on understanding of the company's Production & Performance time, fully allowing participants to experience subjects not conventionally accessible in a study setting. This program best suits dance students, professional dancers and dance teachers intending to pursue a professional career, to enhance their preparation and to further their careers in the industry. Dancers joining our program are challenged and inspired to achieve the very best thru four high-level daily classes, in a nurturing environment considerate of age and dance level and then to convey their skills during performances. We believe in the importance of providing strong ballet, pointe and repertory training that broaden in modern dance techniques and an injury prevention-physical strengthening plan (IPPSP) in support of a healthful and long career in the field. Determinant to the success of young artists, the inspirational relationship with our Company Dancers, who mentor and perform alongside Participants on a daily basis, and the opportunity to be part of the creative process of our Residential Choreographers. Specialty classes expose participants to subjects critical and instrumental to the success of a professional dancer. Curriculum Daily Classes: ballet technique, pointe, partnering, pas de deux, variations, ajkunbt repertory, modern dance, Specialty Classes: injury prevention, nutrition, workplace awareness, repertory’s history, make up, career preparation & professional networking, life on a tour.
Performances: Our performance schedule allows participants to learn many aspects of a company’s life, from touring to public speaking. Thru lectures and active cooperation with our Production Staff, Trainees are thoroughly guided and exposed to the specific requirements of a professional career. Our Wardrobe provides performance costumes. Dancers seeking for employment typically embark in an expensive audition tour that often overlooks organizations not internationally renowned. Equally, Dance Companies may overlook some dancers in the short time of an audition. The Ajkun Ballet Theatre created a network to serve as a platform for dancers to broaden their exposure across the globe.

The AjkunBT Press & Communication Division promotes all Company Artists and Trainees on a global scale. Trainees are referred by our Artistic Staff, based on several weeks of training and performances and supported by the international reputation of our Artistic Directors. The network created by AjkunBT Arts Administrators, Artists, Alumni, Patrons and Partners along with our partnerships with many Dance Companies helps our Trainees to move effortlessly toward a professional career. STAYING INFORMATION: The Ajkun Ballet Theatre is truly committed to make your staying with us an unforgettable one. The international environment of our Program, the expertise of our Staff and their welcoming warmth, the extraordinary venues that are home to our Company, the variety of scenarios that only New York has to offer, all contribute to create life lasting experiences and memories. Living Accommodation Our fully monitored living facilities provide accommodation from two days previous commencement of the classes thru the night following the last event. Friendly property and company staffs are on premises at all times and available 24/7 to address your concerns. Additional supervision for minors is provided. Company Tour Travel Medical A certified nurse, licensed physical therapists and an orthopedic unit will be made available if needed. Additional Services ADMISSION PROCESS The repertory performed for the season dictates the number of positions available, typically 20 DANCERS and 2 DANCE TEACHERS. Minimum age for Dancers is 14 years old and for Dance Teachers is 18 years old. Participation is granted on a first-come, first-serve basis to exhaustion of places available to candidates of any citizenship who can demonstrate to have mastered a strong ballet technique and have the physical prerequisite to sustain an intense daily training and rehearsals. To maintain the remarkable artistic standard required by our Company positions may be divided for countries. Official application deadline is April 30th. Past experience indicates that all positions are filled previous deadline. Applications are accepted as early as THREE YEARS in advance to the intended year of participation. Due to the high volume of worldwide applications Early Registration is Strongly Recommended. Qualification Process Candidates are admitted thru an Audition*. Audition Options: in person or by dvd.
Auditionees must send in the registration fee along with the Audition Form and fee to preserve the availability of their spot. The registration fee is reimbursed in the only case acceptance is denied. Successful candidates will be provided with a complete informational package and guided by our Staff thru the admission process leading to officially becoming a Summer Trainee to the Ajkun Ballet Theatre Company.
* In accordance with The United States law and The Ajkun Ballet Theatre’s non-discrimination policy, Tuition US$ 2,780 inclusive of classes, costumes, accommodation, performance tour transportation for the 4 weeks is payable in full upon acceptance or in four installments. Registration fee is US$65.
SCHOLARSHIPS The AjkunBT Fund may award Summer Trainees with Educational Grants or International Exchange Grants up to the annual budget for dancers of US$130,000.
